Juniper Networks Survey Reveals 87 Percent of South African IT Organizations View the Network as Critical to Their Success

High-Performance Network Infrastructure is the Key to Fueling Competitive Business Advantage

SUNNYVALE, Calif., October 30, 2007 -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today revealed the results of a recent survey conducted by Ciao Group Online Market Research that interviewed IT managers from a wide array of industry sectors across South Africa. The survey discovered that 87 percent of respondents believe that network performance has a direct impact on corporate productivity, while 83 percent agree that the network is critical to the day-to-day operations of their business.

The survey reflects the increasing direction of businesses in South Africa to deploy a high-performance network infrastructure that not only drives competitive advantage, builds differentiation and accelerates revenue growth, but directly impacts corporate productivity.

"It is clear from this research that, despite the specific challenges faced by South African businesses today, such as high cost of Internet connectivity, limited bandwidth, and wide geographical distances between offices, enterprises are also under pressure to accelerate delivery of service-enabling applications across highly distributed environments in order to expedite workforce productivity and customer loyalty," said Hans-Peter Bauer, vice president of enterprise sales, EMEA for Juniper Networks.

The survey also illustrates that IT networking is no longer regarded as merely a way to achieve tactical results and operational efficiency, but is vital to the long-term sustained success of high-performance businesses. Nearly 80 percent of respondents report that a high-performance network enables competitive advantage by accelerating time-to-market for differentiated services.

When asked about their networking budget, 71 percent of respondents agree that one of their key objectives is to reduce overlay costs so that they can focus more budget and resource toward innovation and new projects. Thus sustaining the right level of investment is critical to maintaining both competitive advantage and productivity.
