Juniper Networks Appoints New CIO and VP Operations

SUNNYVALE, Calif., November 22, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced the appointments of Alan Boehme to the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO), and Kevin Q. Smith to the position of vice president (VP), Operations. As CIO Boehme is responsible for delivering a global Information Technology (IT) infrastructure capable of supporting a high growth, globally distributed organization. Boehme succeeds Kim Perdikou, who assumed the position of vice president and associate general manager, Infrastructure Business Team. In his role as VP Operations, Smith is responsible for all aspects of Juniper's manufacturing strategy and fulfillment operations with a focus on making manufacturing excellence a competitive advantage for Juniper. Boehme and Smith report to Bob Dykes, chief financial officer and executive vice president, Business Operations.

"I'm pleased to welcome Alan and Kevin to Juniper," commented Dykes. "Both bring exceptional functional and operational experience and a strong focus on excellence. I'm confident they'll make significant contributions to the company as we continue to scale globally."

A seasoned industry veteran of 20 years, Boehme has been recognized both domestically and internationally for his ability to jump-start and transform global business processes. Boehme joins Juniper Networks from Best Software, a leading provider of business management applications for small and mid-sized companies. In his role as CIO he oversaw the IT transformation of the company from 7 independent business units to one with a unified IT strategy and organization. Prior to Best Software, Boehme served as the e-Technology/e-Business CIO at General Electric's Power Systems business, where he oversaw the IT initiatives for this $21 billion division of GE. Boehme also held senior management positions at DHL Worldwide Express and Flying Tiger, which was later acquired by Fedex.

With more than 20 years of operations management experience, Smith has a strong track record of successfully introducing complex networking products and bringing them to high volume production. Smith joins Juniper from Sanmina, where, in his role as senior vice president and general manager, he had full responsibility for his division's product and marketing strategy. During his tenure, he substantially improved customer satisfaction and execution performance as measured by on-time delivery, quality, product cost and inventory turns. Prior to Sanmina, he was the vice president of operations at Force10 Networks and senior vice president, Operations at Redback Networks. Smith also held senior management positions at Cisco, Apple Computer, Boeing Electronics and Texas Instruments.
