Aurora Health Care Deploys NetScreen Security Solutions

Sunnyvale, CA - November 18, 2003—NetScreen Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: NSCN) today announced that Aurora Health Care, a not-for-profit Wisconsin health care provider, has deployed NetScreen’s network security solutions to secure critical data located at its main hospital and remote clinic sites.

When Aurora Health Care expanded its operations throughout Wisconsin, its previous proxy firewall solution was not meeting the health care provider’s scalability and throughput needs. The IT department recognized the need to update its network security solution – in particular the firewall. After evaluating solutions from multiple vendors, Aurora selected NetScreen’s hardware-based, purpose-built integrated firewall and virtual private network (VPN) security systems and appliances.

The NetScreen devices have helped Aurora Health Care decrease administration time and effort spent maintaining its firewalls, setting policies and creating historical reports.

“We can now make changes to the network at any time without having to take the entire system down,” said Dan Lukas, lead WAN and security architect at Aurora Health Care. “The IT department is now able to spend more time on core network projects rather than firewall maintenance.”

A pair of NetScreen-500 systems, providing up to 700 Mbps firewall performance and up to 250 Mbps of 3DES VPN performance, are deployed in High Availability (HA) mode protecting the hospital’s DS3 connection at the Internet gateway and partitioned extranets.

NetScreen-204 appliances, which offer up to 400 Mbps of firewall performance and up to 200 Mbps of 3DES VPN performance, are deployed in active/passive mode at multiple business partner locations. And, NetScreen-5XP appliances, providing up to 20 Mbps firewall and up to 13 Mbps of 3DES VPN performance with support for 2,000 concurrent sessions, provide a cost-effective solution to protect Aurora’s remote site servers.
